"Marching in March Towards the Cross and the Grave"
The month of March will be a involve time change, weather change, and hopfully outreach involving heart change. I beleive that God enjoys doing new things and he has new ministries planned for Tunnel Hill UMC in 2010. The year has already begun with most of our Bible studies showing great interest and emphasis on prayer. Even now we are seeking more ways to participating with Christ in becoming the church he has called us to be. As we look at new ways to serve Christ we need to remember our church's purpose found in our mission statement, "Seeking, Strengthening and Sending Disciples in the Name of Jesus Christ."
We can not allow God's House of prayer to become distracted by things of this world that may take us away from our goals and vision of becoming a church of excellence in outreach. We are "Missionary Methodists" focusing on our Heavenly Father's business. All our ministries and everything we do should involve seeking out the lost, hurting, hungery, poor and desperate; should involve strengthening the new beleivers (and really all beleiveres) in Bible study, caring for others more than self, and in teaching them to obey the things that Jesus has taught; should involve sending disciples out in mission locally, nationally, and internationally to bring Glory to the Name of Jesus Christ.
We have our vision of where we need to go. As we march in March towards being the individual Christian and the church God has called us to be, let us keep our eyes on the goal. Anything that is not involving "seeking, strengthening, and sending disciples in the Name of Jesus" may not be where we need to go. With our eyes and focus on the Cross of Calvary and the Garden Tomb, let us not be distracted by the worries and things of this world, but rather keep the "Main Thing the Main Thing." That is my prayer for Tunnel Hill as we follow Jesus, not just during this season leading to Easter, but in our daily walk with Him. Pastor Mike
